Are Clergy Necessary?
Response: Funerals and memorial services are becoming celebrations with increased involvement of family and friends. This is especially true of memorial services. The death of a family member is a very emotional occasion. It is helpful to have someone present who is knowledgeable about the grief process and the options for acknowledging and commemorating a person’s life. Trained clergy can help with this process and planning. However, it is not required that an ordained minister be present.
